With reference to your letter J. No. 419 of 19th. February last and to previous correspondence respecting the
haring

case of one C.. Ahrens, I have the honour, to inform you that the man has been again sent to Victoria Gaol, been convicted of being drunk and disorderly.
I am instructed to address you further regarding Ahrens with a view to your making arrangements for his removal from this Colony. You have apparently no doubt in your own mind that this man is a German subject, but you state that want of money prevents you from taking action in this case.
Under these circumstances it occurs to
me to suggest that you should telegraph to the proper authority for power to incur the expense of dealing with Ahrens stating at the same time that in your opinion he is a German subject.
